5 steps to straight teeth and a better, healthier smile with Invisalign®

At Shine Dental Arts, we can straighten crooked, crowded, and misaligned teeth without braces. Invisalign^® is a highly cosmetic and comfortable orthodontic treatment. It can be completed in the following five steps, which fit well with our teens’ and adults’ busy and active lifestyles. 

1 – Consultation 

During a consultation at our Phoenix, Arizona area office in Ahwatukee, Drs. Vanessa L. Quihuis and Anthony F.R. Quihuis will first gather as much information as possible about your mouth. They use advanced software to create a digital model of your mouth. We can mount this model on a monitor to show you how Invisalign^® works. You can see how your teeth will be straightened during treatment. You even get to see what your smile will look like after treatment. 

2 – Receive your aligners 

The magic behind Invisalign^® treatment is its aligners. These oral appliances are customized to fit your mouth. They are made from a smooth, flexible, and transparent plastic. These features make them very discreet and comfortable. They are not visible when you smile. Also, they will not irritate the inside of your mouth. The aligners are designed to place consistent and gentle pressure on the teeth. This pressure moves the teeth into their correct positions.

3 – Wear your aligners 

Aligners should be worn each day. They should only be removed before eating meals, brushing, and flossing. Each aligner must also be worn for up to two weeks as instructed by your dentist. Be sure to wear the aligners in the correct order, too. The aligners/aligner trays may look similar; however, there are slight nuances among them. After all, each aligner has been specifically designed for certain movements and phases in treatment. Invisalign^® has made it easy to keep track of your aligners. Each aligner is labeled by number and with a “U” and “L” for “Upper” or “Lower” teeth. 

4 – Periodic visits 

Dentists or orthodontists must frequently tighten braces. Invisalign^® does not require such frequent visits to our office. Our doctors will advise you when to see them for “check-ins.” During these appointments, they will examine your teeth to ensure treatment is progressing properly. You will also be provided with more aligner trays as needed. 

5 – Enjoy your new smile! 

Invisalign^® can effectively straighten your teeth in a fraction of the time as traditional orthodontic treatment with braces.
