As a general dentist’s office, Shine Dental Arts is equipped to provide complete care for your teeth, gums, and mouth. Drs. Vanessa L. Quihuis and Anthony F.R. Quihuis have acquired advanced training and experience in preventative and restorative dentistry. We keep your mouth healthy and functional by protecting you from and treating conditions like tooth decay and gum disease. We also restore and sustain the beauty of your smile. Healthy teeth and gums are attractive; however, you may also benefit from our additional expertise in cosmetic dentistry services. From our well-appointed office in Phoenix, Arizona, we generally have everything you and your family need for a vibrant, well-functioning smile that supports your best overall health and well-being.
All of our patients benefit from routine check-ups. These check-ups include an examination performed by one of our dentists. We also take X-rays and other scans routinely and as-needed, depending on what is found during your exam. Following your exam, one of our dental hygienists uses their special skills and dental instruments to clean your teeth. These visits are essential to prevent the build-up of disease-causing bacteria, plaque, and tartar. We reduce your risk of developing cavities or gum disease by managing these substances. Check-ups are also an opportunity to identify problems like early signs of enamel erosion or gum inflammation. By identifying and treating problems early, further damage is prevented. We may also recommend additional preventive services that are most appropriate for you.Â
Our dentists may apply a thin coating to decay-prone back teeth during check-ups. This coating or dental sealantkeeps food particles, bacteria, and plaque out of the fissures and pits on the chewing surfaces of these backmost teeth. Sealants are advised for children, as well as for those adults with risk factors for tooth decay.Â
No. During regular visits, we also check for strange lumps and bumps on your tongue, the roof of your mouth, inside of your cheek, neck, and other areas. This screening is important to detect pre-cancerous lesions and oral cancers of the mouth and throat. These cancers have a high “cure rate” when detected and treated early, at a localized stage or before the cancer has spread beyond its site of origin. When you close your mouth, we also assess for things like bite imbalances or the relationship between the opposing upper and lower teeth. The health and function of your jaw joints is also evaluated, as Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMJD) can be responsible for everything from difficulty chewing food to chronic tension headaches.
Shine Dental Arts has a complete range of treatments and services to resolve whatever is “wrong” with your teeth, gums, jaws, and other parts of your mouth. We can treat and rebuild damaged gums with periodontal therapy. We may restore health, function, and aesthetics for damaged teeth with cosmetic fillings, dental crowns, and root canal therapy. When teeth cannot be preserved, they may be replaced with dental bridges, dentures, and implants. For crowded, crooked, and misaligned teeth and bite problems (overbite, underbite, crossbite, and open bite), Invisalign® may be recommended. This alternative to conventional orthodontic treatment with braces is discreet, comfortable, and removable. We even use Botox® to relax the jaw muscles associated with TMJD.Â
